Professional business voicemail greetings are significantly different from ones you record for individual use and complete your professional business image. They’re more generic in nature and designed to provide information to the caller while ensuring they leave a message. Where possible, explain when you expect to return calls. Typically, they’re recorded for the following:
.
Make sure you keep your promises too. If you want to specify a time (which you should) ensure you get back to the customer within the timeframe.

This locally sourced honey has a great, "intense" honey taste. These NC bees don't mess around. They know what they're doing. North Carolina bees were winning one for the Gipper before the game was even over! This hive is rockin' so don't bother knockin' - just come on in (thanks Stevie Ray). Local honey is known for allergy relief. This honey makes a great gift. And it lasts a super long time on your shelf.
Your company greeting should be created with that in mind. A strong company greeting will start the call off right, starting on a positive note while immediately getting people wherever it is that they need to go in your call navigation system.
I’m home right now . . . I’m just screening my calls. So just start talking and if you’re someone I want to speak to I’ll pick up the phone. Otherwise, well, what can I say?
10Hello, this is [your name]. I’m probably at home just avoiding someone I dislike. A funny way of telling someone you’re avoiding them without sounding offensive or having to pick their calls. Please speak very slowly, make it short, make it sweet, and I’ll deliver the message to them. Using other household appliances as stand-ins for the message center is cute and funny. This voicemail will warn callers not to bring drama, so you can save yourself the trouble of having to hear a message that was about to spoil your day.
People get frustrated when you don’t pick up the phone. They also get frustrated when the person who picks up the phone can’t help them, or if they have to wait a long time to talk to someone who can. A phone answering service like a virtual receptionist or call center can help reduce wait times and prevent missed calls, but if they can’t help a caller, your customers will feel like they’re just being passed from one person to another—and most people clearly don’t like that experience.
4. Hello… pause. Hello… long pause. Who is this? long pause again Is anyone on the line?… long pause and beep sound.
“Good morning. You’ve reached the voicemail of [your name]. Today is [date]. Please leave me a message with your name and contact information. Oh, and here’s my motivational quote of the day: [read quote].”
Standard delivery for professional greetings is 3-4 business days or 1-2 day for RUSH delivery.
A busy greeting should tell callers that your phone lines are currently in use. You can direct people to wait on hold or leave a message. For example, “Hello, you’ve reached [company name]. Our representatives are currently helping other customers. Please stay on the line to speak with the next available team member, or press one to leave a message and we’ll call you back.”
Standard greeting with your name: "At the tone, please record your message to [name]."
