Keep those communications personal – we don't want our clients to think that we are robots!
The main point that we want to drive home with this article is that you shouldn’t overthink your business voicemail greeting. Just keep it short, and state the relevant information.
.
Thanks for calling Dial-A-Shrink. I can’t come to the phone right now, so after the tone, please leave your name and number, then talk briefly about your childhood and tell me what comes to mind when you hear the following words: orange… mother… unicorn… penis. I’ll get back to you with my diagnosis as soon as possible.
But people don’t like talking to robots. And IVR often forces people to listen to a lot of irrelevant information before they hear the option they’re looking for. And the thing they’re trying to do may not even be one of the choices!
Some of the other common reasons people used click-to-call were because they wanted to talk to a real person (57 percent of respondents), or they felt they needed more information than they’d be able to find on the website (54 percent).
You have reached [your name] at [your company]. ...You've reached [your name] at [your company]. ...Thank you for calling. ...Thank you for calling. ...Hi, you've reached [your name] at [your company]. ...Hi, thank you for calling me. ...Hey, this is [your name]. ...Hi, you've reached the voicemail of [your name] at [your company]. ...Hello. ...
Your company greeting should be created with that in mind. A strong company greeting will start the call off right, starting on a positive note while immediately getting people wherever it is that they need to go in your call navigation system.
Some people might be willing to call you again later. But everyone else is either going to just give up or turn to one of your competitors.

2. Professional voicemail greetings for your business cell phone number. It’s a good practice for each of your team members to have their own personal business phone numbers.
Simply speak into your phone or computer while recording a greeting with your business phone service. If you need to create your own audio file, the voice memo app on your phone should do fine.

Thanks for using OpenPhone and enjoy your holiday season!” Since our holiday hours are shorter, it’s a little harder to get in contact with us immediately. That means we need to be as detailed as possible for our callers’ convenience. Yet, we still kept it brief and friendly.
And you’re done! Your CenturyLink voicemail is now set up. Whenever you have an unheard message, you'll hear a stuttered dial tone when you pick up your home phone. Take a few minutes to gather your thoughts, even jot down a few notes, and practice before you record. Before you start recording, turn off anything in the background that might cause noise. This will ensure your voice is clear and easy to understand. While clever greetings can be fun, it's worth taking a moment to think about the range of potential callers who may be leaving you voicemail. Consider the tone and image you want to project. Don't worry! If you don't like your recording, you can erase it and re-record as many times as you'd like.
