Thanks for calling Dial-A-Shrink. I can’t come to the phone right now, so after the tone, please leave your name and number, then talk briefly about your childhood and tell me what comes to mind when you hear the following words: orange… mother… unicorn… penis. I’ll get back to you with my diagnosis as soon as possible.

If you have call forwarding enabled, then those call forward settings override the voicemail settings you configured.
For example, callers shouldn’t reach a business-as-usual voicemail, and therefore expect a return call within the business day, if the subject they’re calling is out on vacation for two weeks. Such a lack of communication is a recipe to lose that caller’s trust and tarnish the brand’s reputation.
You don't have to be a large national business to make an impression with your callers. On hold messages are ideal for SME businesses to sound just as professional.
Creating a professional voicemail greeting isn’t complicated, but you need to keep a few things in mind to ensure success. Typically, a good business voicemail greeting should comprise the following elements: A warm greeting. Your name, the name of your company and department name. Make an apology for being unable to take the call. Ask the caller to leave a message. Let the caller know when to expect a return call.
Doing this helps you understand what the prospects are looking for and what they are expecting from you which will in turn help you to cater to them better.
