Tip: If you’re not sure how to leave a good voicemail, check out the most effective voicemail script ever and how to end a voicemail that keeps the sales conversation open.
First I would check the phone to see if it saved the greeting to its files. Some phones do and some don’t. If you are unable to find the voicemail greeting file, google the question for your type of phone. If you’re unable to find it or do it, call youe cell phone carrier to see if they can help. Some carriers still save voicemail greetings on their systems. It’s a great reminder though that if you have a greeting you really want to keep, to make sure you record it and save it to your computer and to a flash drive or cloud drive for good measure. Hope that helps! Laura

I can't get to the phone before it goes to voicemail. I understand that the number of rings the caller hears is controlled by my carrier, Verizon. My husband has a Samsung Galaxy S7 purchased from Verizon and when he calls, he hears 8 rings then it goes to VM. Note that I called Verizon and they set it to 8 rings, the maximum available.
Most similar apps will cost you for the recording alone and some limit recording time.
On Android, you have a couple of different options. If you don’t want to use Google Voice, you may want to check out the free version of any paid apps, as performance can vary from handset to handset.

If they are calling without an expectation that you always pick up (such as if you are a business coach or a one-man shop) then thanking them for calling might make the most sense.
Example 1. Hi, you’ve reached [your name]. Thanks for calling. Example 2. Hi, you’ve reached [name]. Example 3. Hi, you’ve reached [name] at [company]. Example 4. Hi, you’ve called [name] at [company].
If you are recording a voicemail message for business, be sure you include your name and your company's name, so people know who they are calling and were they are reaching them. If you do not include the business name, they may think they have mistakenly called you at your personal number. You will also want to make sure to give callers the option to speak to someone who is currently available, an operator or other representative, by pressing a certain key (check with IT personnel to see what this might be).
