**Important: Please read entire article** It can be frustrating to experience delays with your voicemail. That delay may occur for a variety of reasons – most likely due to issues outside of the YouMail app. Data connection, WiFi connection, third party applications or device OS can all conflict with the retrieval of your messages if configured incorrectly.
You might also consider giving them the option to skip your voicemail message completely by pressing another key (again, check with IT). You also want to make callers aware what you will return their call, instead of telling them that you will try to return their call--and let them know when you are likely to do it, if possible. If necessary, provide additional or emergency information in your voicemail greetings. My dentist, for example, lists his cell phone number for emergencies.

Before you push record, be sure to tell the person on the other end of the line you're recording; depending on your location, you may be breaking a law if you don't. Some US states—like New York and even the feds—only require one-party consent, which means you can record without telling the other person or persons. In California, all parties must know they're being recorded—even if the recorder is out of state. Under federal law, one-party consent is okay, but only if you're part of the conversation; otherwise that's considered eavesdropping.
