We’ve heard frightening stories of people who have been hit by huge bills because of annoying marketing calls that went to voicemail, so that's something you really need to avoid, such as this article in the Telegraph.
I have my uncle’s recording of him singing me ‘Happy Birthday’ on my phone recorder which I’ve saved since June 2016 which apparently cannot be recorded other than via speaker phone to a recorder that makes a poor quality recording. So I seem to be unable to delete it if I want to hear it again so my message machine fills up continuously. My phone is ATT. Is there any way for me to record it to save his voice to some other media so I can replay it to hear him again?(both he and my dad,his brother passed away). Are there any home phone systems available that either record to a removeable chip, cassette, or whatever which can be saved other than an audio recording to another audio recorder which declines its quality significantly?

Recordator has a free 10-minute recording trial; otherwise it costs $10 for 67 minutes to start. It works much like RecordiaPro, giving you a number to set up a 3-way conference that does all the recording. For that price, Recordator throws in full call transcription. It also supports the merge-call option.

I know you’re thinking what does recording an iPhone call have to do with voicemail, but it turns out that a simple trick allows you to use the service to record any phone call, and it works great. Not only will you get the recorded phone call, but you’ll be able to save and share the call recording as an audio file as well.
Voice mail allows business professionals access to messages -- even when they're away from the office. A call to any business or home used to mean one of three things -- an answer, a busy signal or endless, unanswered ringing. Increasingly, it now means an encounter with voice mail.
iPhone recorder apps only work because they utilize 3-way conference calls, either incoming or outgoing. The third "caller" is a recording line, provided by a service from the app's developer. Obviously, 3-way calling is a must-have feature of your iPhone for this to work, so be sure your carrier supports it. In the US, the big three all do, but some smaller carriers do not—at least not in a way these apps support.
Thanks for calling Dial-A-Shrink. I can’t come to the phone right now, so after the tone, please leave your name and number, then talk briefly about your childhood and tell me what comes to mind when you hear the following words: orange… mother… unicorn… penis. I’ll get back to you with my diagnosis as soon as possible.
This isn't going to work for all carriers. On mine (AT&T), calling my own number dumped me into the audio voice mail menu and didn't record. You could always try calling the person on the other line again—you'll go directly to their voice mail, certainly. They could send you the recorded "voice mail" conversation after. However, that's not something most interview subjects want to get involved in.
