To get the most out of your voice mail it’s important that you properly set up your personal mailbox. Press the voice mail button on your phone and enter your password (0 0 0 0 by default). After putting phone in airplane mode, deleting message, I had to turn phone off and re-boot. It seems to have worked!

Access to Visual Voicemail does not negate traditional voicemail access. You can still access it by tapping the 1 key on your phone.
In the notification area, you will see the Voicemail symbol appear when you receive a new voicemail.
