7. Voicemail Message. The company voicemail greeting callers hear. Sample Voicemail Scripts: “You have reached the voicemail of [company name]. Please leave a detailed message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.”
A relatively unprofessional one — like mine, for instance — does the opposite: It encourages prospects, recruiters, and potential connections to run in the other direction.

You can tap on Record to start recording a new iPhone voicemail greeting and then Stop when you are done. Tap on Play to listen to it so you don’t have an embarrassing mistake or noise in it. When you are satisfied with the message, tap Save in the upper right.
Step 4: You can either choose a Default greeting, or you can select Custom to record your own greeting.
To set up voice mail, tap the Phone icon, tap the Voicemail icon and then "Greeting.". There are two options available: Default and Custom. If voice mail hasn't been set up previously on your phone, Default is selected, which means people will hear your wireless carrier's generic voice mail greeting when they call you.
Use call answering rules to determine what happens when a caller reaches your voice mail. For example, if you have automatic replies turned on, then you could set up your rule to transfer the caller to a different number. If you have multiple rules, you can specify the order in which they are applied.
As mentioned earlier, before you try to set up visual voicemail, make sure you have it activated on your phone and that your carrier allows it. If your phone isn’t capable of using visual voicemail, then simply move on to the next method.
On an Android phone, a voicemail icon will appear at the top left of your screen in the Status area if you have an unread voicemail. Swipe your finger down from the top of the screen to view your notifications and then press New Voicemail. Your phone will dial the voice mailbox.
Then enter the number of seconds you'd like your phone to ring for (it has to be between 5 and 30 and a multiple of 5), followed by #. For example, if you want to set it for 25 seconds, you'd ...

This is not an answering machine–this is a telepathic thought-recording device. After the tone, think about your name, your reason for calling, and a number where I can reach you, and I’ll think about returning your call.
If you miss a call and the caller leaves a message, it'll show up in the visual voicemail. Tap the message to listen and read a transcription (which may not be the most accurate).
Once this screen has appeared all of your old voice mails will display. Tap Greeting in the top left.
Also, carriers have a limit to how long they'll let you record a voice mail. Test it with your phone and a friend before you trust this method.

Most mobile networks allow you to contact your voicemail system from another phone. This can be handy if your battery is flat, or if you don’t want to rack up extra costs when you’re overseas.
