On Android, a variety of apps can record a call directly, unless the phone manufacturer blocks it. On iPhone, recording phone calls is blocked, period. The apps that do exist to record a call—and there are quite a few—have a workaround, but it will usually cost you.

Most of the time, an update to your carrier’s voicemail app or settings will cure the issue; however, it is important to confirm that your voicemail number is appropriately configured before proceeding any further.
Open the dial pad on your mobile phone. You can see the Voicemail hot button (in most cases, it is the number ‘1’ on the dial pad). Press & hold that button, and it will take you to the Voicemail directly. You can also go to the Voicemail from the phone menu.
Rehearse or write down your message before recording it. Remember that old saying “practice makes perfect?” It’s certainly true when it comes to creating an electronic greeting. The more you’ve rehearsed, the easier the message will be to restate. If you don’t have time to practice, writing down the greeting before recording it – and then reading it aloud from the paper – may help you stay focused on the correct wording.
With Visual Voicemail, you can see a list of your messages and choose which ones to listen to or delete. Learn how to set up and transfer your existing voicemail. Hi Cindi, What a beautiful idea! The easiest way to do this would be to have someone who is good at editing video or audio do this for you on their computer. Maybe a relative or someone from your local high school or college. Once the voice mails are saved as MP3s using the suggestions in the post, it would be easy to edit them using Camtasia or Movavi or any other editing software. If you don’t have anyone around, a Walgreens or Walmart store might be able to do it for you if they edit video. They might have the capability. We had a very old audio file of ours (from reel to reel!) edited and resaved onto a DVD by iMemories.com. They did an amazing job! All the best! Laura
To improve a a business voicemail greeting, keep these eight rules at the forefront of the creative process: Avoid turning customers off with overused and impersonal phrases like “your call is very important to us..." Avoid leaving customers unsure by not immediately telling them the business, department, and/or person they’ve reached. Avoid leaving customers confused with too many details and complications; just keep it simple. Avoid messages longer than 25 seconds. Do apologize for being unavailable at the moment. Do invite the caller to leave a message. Do tell the caller when they can expect a return call and actually follow through within that timeframe. Do tell the caller about any applicable alternative options of contact and information- website, live chat, email, social media, or emergency numbers. Voicemail Greetings 101

Of course, there are a few things you will always want to keep in mind when you are recording any message. First, a voicemail greeting can be your first impression, so you'll always want to take the time to think about what you'll say when you record it. You might want to write a script or just go over what you'll say in your head. Be sure to ask callers for their name, a message, and a call back number, or you might get stuck with "Hey, it's me, call me back" (I'm notorious for leaving messages like this). Be sure you practice speaking slowly and clearly as you deliver your short, to the point message. It's also a good idea to leave 1 to 2 seconds of silence before you begin speaking, so callers have time to absorb your message. To use a different greeting that you already recorded or switch back to the default greeting:
Voicemail access and the initial password should have been set by your carrier or service provider when your device was first activated. But keep in mind that some carriers don’t use passwords when it comes to voicemail. If you don’t know if this service is enabled or you forgot the password, you should check in with them first. If you see the contact list opening, tap on the phone dialer icon located in the bottom-right corner.Once you’re in keypad dialer, touch and hold on number 1 key. Now one of two things can happen. One, if you the service is enabled your phone will dial the voicemail number and prompt you to insert or create a new password. You might also be asked to record the greeting message at this stage. And two, in case your carrier didn’t configure this service when your device was first activated, you’ll be prompted with a message to insert your voicemail number. If the first scenario is the case, follow the instructions provided by your carrier to finish setting up your voicemail. In the event that you’re prompted to insert your voicemail number, tap on Add Number. If you don’t know your voicemail number, call your carrier and ask for it or search online for something like “voicemail number + *YourCarrierName* + *YourCountry*”. Now follow the instructions provided by your service provider to finish setting up your voicemail. Note: If you bought a used phone or you recently changed the service provider, chances are you have the wrong voicemail number set up. In cases like this, open up the App drawer and tap on Phone. From there, tap on More and select Settings. Once you’re in Settings, scroll all the way down to Voicemail settings and tap on the entry. This will open a pop-up in which you can change the voicemail number.
