With music and messaging that appeals to your target market, you will captivate your audience. Your Message On Hold program can be more than a time filler for callers waiting, it can be an informative, entertaining, and educational tool. With the right content, callers will not only stay on hold, but will have an emotional reaction to your message.
However, do not waste the caller’s time. They may hang up if they are forced to listen to a needlessly lengthy and uninteresting voicemail greeting.
Do you speak a second language and serve customers in an area that primarily uses a language other than English? Make it known that you speak both languages. Start the voicemail with the most dominant language spoken in your market followed by the same message spoken in the secondary language:

Finally, you can mention your name in the recording. This is a good idea if your calls are still coming into a cell phone. If you’re on a first name basis with all your customers, it adds that extra personal touch to include your name in the voicemail. If you’re not on a first name basis, but you’d like to be, then use your name to encourage customers to use it!
