A professional voicemail greeting should be no longer than 60 seconds. List the important information we've discussed above, provide alternative methods of communication and close with a thank you.
So, I finally did it. Here’s my process for developing a professional voicemail message in 10 steps:
.
Rather than waiting for a callback, open up additional channels of communication with your callers by inviting them to email. The most professional voicemail greetings often include an alternative method of communication.
7. Configure phone number. Select which subaccount user will be assigned to the phone number (private) or select Shared voicemail for the phone number to share a voicemail box with your primary phone number.
On Air Recordings recommends you order professional voicemail greetings through their site, then describe the tone, approach, or voice direction you’re going for.
When you speak into your phone, do not speak directly into the mouthpiece. If you do, you will likely create “popping” and “hissing” noises when you pronounce words that have the letters “p” or “s” in them. Be sure to speak across the mouthpiece and not directly into it.
Skype for Business Voicemail Setup. This page contains both Microsoft documentation and University-specific documentation about how to set up voice mail and voice mail options for Lync and Unified Communications systems. Important Note: To access Webmail use outlook.office365.com instead of https://webmail.illinois.edu.
Because for many callers, this will be the first point of contact for your business, it’s important to set it up correctly — but how?
Remember, your message is a reflection of you. Keep it short, professional and ALWAYS return messages.
4. "Hello, you've reached [your name and title]. I'm currently out on parental leave until [date]. In the meantime, please direct all phone calls to [alternate contact name] at [phone number] and emails to [email address]. Thanks, and I'll see you in [month you'll be back in the office]."
You can also erase any of your existing recordings associated with your voicemail box. To delete your name recording, unavailable greeting, or temporary greeting: Dial *98 on your OnSIP-registered phone. Enter your voicemail box number. Enter the PIN/password for your voicemail box. Press 0 for voicemail box options. Press 1 for unavailable greeting, 2 for your name, or 3 for temporary greeting. Press 2 to delete the existing recording on file.
