It's also good to have in the event that someone important, like your doctor, boss, or lawyer, calls. Luckily, setting up your voicemail on an iPhone is incredibly simple. Here's how to do it. How to set up voicemail on your iPhone 1. Open the Phone app on your iPhone. It's green with an image of a phone, and it's located in the dock at the bottom of your Home Screen by default. 2. Set up Visual Voicemail. If your carrier supports Visual Voicemail, you can set it up with these steps: Go to the Phone app, then tap the Voicemail tab. Tap Set Up Now. Create a voicemail password, then tap Done. Enter your password again to confirm it, then tap Done. Select Custom or Default. If you choose Custom, you can record a new greeting.
