Note that the secretary has asked for the reason for calling so she can prioritize the patients who need the most help. She’s also keeping it short and to the point.

Let your callers know although you might be enjoying one too, that their needs are important.
Random facts could include their favorite movie, vacation spot, candy, or television show. Regardless of what you choose, it will surprise your caller and more than likely make them leave a message if they were considering hanging up.

I had the same problem -- very frustrating! I powered off my iPhone (Held down lock button and then slid the red slide button) and then restarted (hit the lock button). I was then able to record my voicemail greeting. Hope this works for you as well. You can allow callers to press 0 and be transferred to another phone number, of your choosing, when they reach your voicemail greeting.
