It works similar to the old answering machine, with the only difference is that the old answering machine will store the voice message in the machine itself, while your phone’s voicemail system will store the voicemail in your service provider server. You can also forward the voicemail message to someone else’s mailbox.
If you’ve already created a custom voicemail on your iPhone, you can tap Play to see how your voicemail sounds. If you’re interested in creating a new message, tap the Custom button. From here, you can start recording your message by tapping Record and tapping Stop whenever you’re finished. Once you’re finished recording, tap on Play to make sure the message comes across as you’d like and hit Save (in the upper right) to save it as your voicemail.

While there are endless ways you could say hello in a custom voicemail greeting, there are a few main generic lines that most of us have probably heard many times. Hello, you have reached the voicemail of (person of company) we are unable to get to the phone at the moment, please leave your name and number, and we will be happy to call you back soon. Thank you. Thank you for calling (company or person) we are not available or are on the other line with another customer, please hold and a representative will be with you shortly. Thank you for calling (company) if you know the extension of the person you are trying to reach dial it now, for billing press 1, for customer service press 2. or press 0 for the operator. Each professional custom voicemail is unique to the person or the company and can be structured any way you need it to represent your brand, business, or you as a person. There are options such as adding music that also make the voicemail greeting attractive. These are all ideas that we can work on in the free consultation I offer on all projects. I have my uncle’s recording of him singing me ‘Happy Birthday’ on my phone recorder which I’ve saved since June 2016 which apparently cannot be recorded other than via speaker phone to a recorder that makes a poor quality recording. So I seem to be unable to delete it if I want to hear it again so my message machine fills up continuously. My phone is ATT. Is there any way for me to record it to save his voice to some other media so I can replay it to hear him again?(both he and my dad,his brother passed away). Are there any home phone systems available that either record to a removeable chip, cassette, or whatever which can be saved other than an audio recording to another audio recorder which declines its quality significantly?
