Yes, though if there's no preexisting greeting the GUI won't detect it if placed in the filesystem. I suspect a database entry is needed for the GUI to "see" the greeting. As a workaround a greeting could be recorded (so that the database entry is present) and the file replaced, but that's getting to be quite a task end-to-end. Also I don't know if the database stores the length of the recordings, which could be problematic during playback if the original and replacement audio files are different lengths. Why would you remove support for this? I'm completely amazed. I thought my old custom greeting got lost during an update but not to have a BASIC feature that has been available since Skype's inception is just foolish. I now can't change my message if I'm on vacation or travelling on business or anything. This is a major step backwards in terms of functionality. The only problem I have with the voices is that the French and Spanish ones are really hard to understand. It’s almost like the voices are speaking English words based solely on French and Spanish phonetic rules, instead of sounding like English in a French or Spanish accent. Then save it as an MP3 on to your computer for safe keeping. You can also Google your vtech model number to see if you can find an owner’s manual. They might have a way to save a recording in there.
