So, I finally did it. Here’s my process for developing a professional voicemail message in 10 steps:
the fixed system message, "I'm sorry, the person you are calling is currently on the phone." followed by silence.
Your message should be 20 seconds at most. Remember, your clients or co-workers may listen to this dozens of times.
It might sound corny but try to project a little bit of happiness into your voice, particularly if you work for some kind of customer service company. People tend to get very solemn when they record voice messages and it can come across as almost upset when playing it back, even if that wasn't the intention.
