.
Keep it short and sweet so that the caller can quickly leave their message and move on with their day.
Both the global and personalized voicemail greeting are changeable. This topic describes how to change voicemail greetings for extension voicemail and group voicemail.
A good voicemail greeting is short and professional, lets people know that you’ll get back to them, and invites callers to continue engaging with a call-to-action. You should also show your personality if you’re in an industry or role that allows that. If your industry is more conservative, however, you’ll want to keep humor and personal touches to a minimum. A greeting Your name Your company A simple explanation for missing the call (e.g. you’re away from the phone or are on holiday) A rough estimate of when you’ll get back to the person An alternative person to reach out to (if you’re out of office) An alternative mode of communication (if you prefer email or text) A call-to-action such as “Leave a message” or “Send me an email at [email protected]”
“Good afternoon. You have reached the office of [your name]. I will be out of the office beginning on [date] and will be returning on [date]. Please leave a brief message with your contact information, and I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as I return on [date]. If this is an emergency or you need to speak with someone before I return, please contact [name of colleague/supervisor], [their job title], at [their phone number].”
But in the past few years, its use has been in decline. And some offices have opted to get rid of it altogether.
a standard greeting as per Option 5 minus the mailbox user's name, followed by the fixed system prompt, "Begin speaking after the tone, then hang-up when you are finished or press any key for further options."
37. You have reached [your name] at [your company]. Thank you for calling. Please leave your name, number and a message, and I will get right back to you.
Write down your message before you record it. When reading it back, ask yourself: Does it make sense? Does it contain the right information? Is it grammatically correct? Is it clear? Is it positive and polite?
Pro Tip: Smile while you’re recording your greeting and your voice will sound pleasant.
If you started your company more than a year ago, it’s probably time to change your voicemail script. Your recording should match the brand, tone, and voice of your company — just as though a caller were speaking to a member of your team.
Tell People What You Want Them To Do—Here’s my voicemail greeting: “Hi, you have reached the voicemail for Todd Smith. At the tone please leave your name, phone number, the purpose of your call and the best time to reach you and I will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you”

In the case that your business is closed due to an emergency, it's only worth it to go into detail if the problem is affecting everyone in the area. Otherwise, stick to your Company Wide Voicemail Greeting, but remove the stated hours and tell callers that you're currently closed. Thank you for calling Cutlass Technology. Don’t Use The Computer Generated Greeting—I get aggravated when I hear a computer generated message like, “The person you are calling at 9-4-1-5-5-5-1-2-3-4 is not available to take your call, please leave a message at the tone.” Even if the number repeated by the system is the same one I have for the person, it requires extra work on my part to confirm I’ve dialed the right number and even then I am still left wondering if this is the right number for the person I am calling.
11. Hello, you’ve reached [your name]’s cell phone. I can’t take your call at the moment, but if you leave a brief message, I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.
