There are many little things I instinctively look for and notice and one of them is a person’s voicemail greeting. I often conduct initial phone interviews and when someone’s personal voicemail greeting turns me off, the interview process is over. It’s their first and last impression.
Recording a business voicemail greeting is not the same as recording a personalized message for your cell phone. You’ll want to maintain a level of professionalism while also connecting with your customers. Before you start recording, keep these tips in mind to leave a good impression on potential clients.

Good voicemail greetings should include your name and/or company, your reason for missing the call or an apology, and instructions for leaving a message. Your voicemail, which gets heard every single time someone doesn’t manage to reach you on the phone, is a prime opportunity to be marketing to your customers.
