Each voice mailbox offers 50 minutes of message storage. When 50 minutes are consumed, callers cannot leave messages. Cox Business suggests that you delete older messages, especially large messages, to preserve available storage space. You will receive a warning once the mailbox capacity reaches 70%. I have a confession to make: I haven’t recorded a new voicemail greeting since 2014. In the past four years, I (hopefully) have become more articulate, poised, and self-assured. But hear my voicemail recording, and you’d think I was still new to the work world, a little unsure of myself — and probably not an authority. Obviously I need toupdate it. These issues limit the quality of the recording because the amateur actor doesn’t know how to speak with the proper enunciation and cadence for phone system recordings, and there’s no experienced director handy to provide guidance.
Chances are that when someone takes the time to leave your business a voicemail, it is because it’s important that their message be communicated and left in the right hands. There’s nothing worse than calling a business only to hear that the voice mailbox is full or that the greeting is too quiet, too fast, or too confusing.

Nobody wants to play phone tag. Skip the back and forth by explicitly telling the caller to leave their name, number, and the best day(s) and time(s) to reach them. Your clients will appreciate you not wanting to waste their time.
A lot of care and consideration should be given to who will be providing the voiceover for a business’ audio recordings before the selection is made.

Your message should sound inviting and happy, so the person leaving the message doesn’t get scared off. Don’t be unnaturally over the top happy that they are leaving you a message, but definitely try and get a happy tone into your message, and show them that you value their time and the fact that they are leaving you a message.
