Changing Voicemail Settings or Greetings from Your Phone or Mobile App
5. Emergency Situation Voicemail Greeting. In the case that your business is closed due to an emergency, it's only worth it to go into detail if the problem is affecting everyone in the area.
A good voicemail greeting is short and professional, lets people know that you’ll get back to them, and invites callers to continue engaging with a call-to-action. You should also show your personality if you’re in an industry or role that allows that. If your industry is more conservative, however, you’ll want to keep humor and personal touches to a minimum. Your phone service includes a 411 and White Pages directory listing (simple, straight-line listing) for new phone number(s). A 411 and White Pages directory listing for your toll-free numbers is optional and provided at an additional charge.
Some people may be uncomfortable leaving voicemails and will hang up instead. You don’t want to lose customers simply because they don’t want to leave messages.
You may think your voicemail message is professional. But when you listen back it could sound rushed or shaky. Listen to it regularly to see if changes are needed.
