There are still other legacy protocols around, and some non-SIP standards, including H.232. Other protocols that are still around are the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP). The former is known for being overly complex and also that it doesn't support some of the functions that people need in their phones, like caller IDs. Cisco is the primary proponent of SCCP since they developed it. But even so, Cisco is currently phasing SCCP out in favor of the much broader SIP standard.
VirtualPBX provides every extension owner in your company with custom routing. If the employee isn’t available, the call will go to the personalized business voicemail account for that employee as a result. In this way, each employee can have a business greeting for callers. Similarly, you can set up voicemail boxes for departments or your company as a whole. Even if the call goes to a phone that already has personal voicemail, we can make sure your business calls only go to your business voicemail system. People that call the employee’s number directly get personal greetings, those that go through VirtualPBX get a business greeting.
VoIP systems, sometimes called cloud PBXes, can manage all your voice communications from a central web console no matter how many extensions you've got, where your employees are located, or even what devices they're using. Most systems also offer features like video conferencing and team collaboration. Put all that together with subscription-based pricing that's generally much cheaper than an old-fashioned, on-premises PBX, and VoIP remains one of the best communications investments any business can make, especially during the pandemic.

Many busy businesses utilize auto attendant greetings to make a great first impression, however, if your business relies on the personal touch of a live receptionist, it is important to have a plan in place when that position is unstaffed. Make sure your voicemail greeting contains the useful information that your receptionist would normally provide. This could include: location & directions, office hours, website URL, or social media info, as well as any pertinent company information.
The key here is customer service. If it’s information that’ll help your business better serve your customers, don’t be afraid to ask for it. Write out your voicemail script and practice it. It may seem silly, but you’ll save time if you write down what you want to say in your message. Get everything you want to include in your greeting down on paper, and then rehearse it before you record your greeting to ensure your script flows smoothly.
