If done tastefully, you can promote your products or services on your voicemail greeting without sounding pushy. In fact, it’s a great way to keep customers up-to-date on company events, sales, and other news. Be sure to keep it short and have fun with it.
Callers aren’t going to spend time sitting through a menu that doesn’t let them, at the very least, leave a voicemail. If a caller knows their party’s extension number, an option can, and should, be “Press 1 to leave a voicemail,” or something along those lines. That way, clients can feel as if they’re expressing their concerns without needing to talk to an agent, and without the agent feeling sorry they couldn’t pick up while they were working on something else.

Nice list TJ. Another Virtual Receptionist phone service is All Call Technologies. We provide services for small offices and entrepreneurs. The differences are the customization and total system management. All Call Technologies has a very robust phone system with and extensive feature list and the best part is there is no programming or setup for the client to do. We will write scripts, record the greetings and program the system. With some of the companies you have listed they require the client port their phone number to them, in most cases we do not need that. The office phones and phone lines stay as is. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. Although often used as a synonym for virtual phone numbers, VoIP numbers actually differ from them. While the former use private data centers to route calls over existing land and cell phone lines, VoIP numbers use public internet for routing calls. Both solutions are less expensive than some traditional phone services and they enable you to take and make calls on the go. VoIP numbers are less reliable as they depend on the strength of your internet connection.
