This is the access code a user dials to hear his or her messages. The default code is 123. The remote code is used internally to access a phone’s voice mailbox by pressing the center navigation key, dialing the three-digit code, and then pressing the center navigation key again. Externally, call into the system and let the auto attendant answer the call, and then dial the desired extension number. If the extension is forwarded to voice mail, and the mailbox answers, enter the remote code to access the mailbox.

Restating your number takes up valuable time, and the idea here is to provide all the information your customers need—and nothing they don’t. Keep voicemail greeting up to date. To change the existing voice mail greeting, you must be on the Attendant/Admin handset which is usually extension number 20 (However this may be changed to another extension that you use to check messages on.) Click the message key on top of the display. Click voice messaging then scroll down once to where it says “other” After you select that, the display will change and you can select Answering Machine. Ideally, a business should have a complete set of messages for every phase of their call flow from beginning to end. While voicemail greetings are an important part of the phone system, there need to be recordings for everything leading up to the voicemail as well (assuming there are other steps in the call flow).
