Record a greeting yourself, or have one professionally done for you. If you choose to record a greeting yourself for your office phone, there are a few simple keys that you should keep in mind:
If you can’t set up Visual Voicemail, contact your carrier to make sure that your plan supports the feature. If you need help, try these steps. Call your iPhone from another phone and try to leave yourself a voicemail. Go to the keypad and press and hold on the 1, or press the Call Voicemail button. Open your Android’s Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the gear-shaped “Settings” Scroll down and tap Apps. Scroll down and tap Phone. Tap Storage. Tap CLEAR DATA. Tap OK when prompted. Clear the Voicemail app’s data if necessary. Call your carrier to report the problem.

The extension user will receive a warning tone, which indicates that a caller has been answered by their voice mailbox. The user has the option to monitor the call, or ignore the alert, and allow the caller to leave a message. Once the user has selected to monitor the caller, they have the option to leave the caller undisturbed (leaving a message) or to retrieve the caller from the voice mailbox and be connected to the caller for a live conversation. When you start to record the business voicemail greetings, be sure to pay attention that the professional voicemail is not able to pick background noises that could make your message sound distort and inaudible.

It's easy to get carried away in a voicemail and include more detail than is necessary. We've all been in that situation where the automated or pre-recorded voice on the end of the line goes on and on with more information than you can take in.
Those who know me know I can hold a conversation. I love people, and my desire to share with them carries over to leaving cell phone messages. Sadly, I know better than to leave long messages, and I have no excuse, but I tend to chatter on, and on, and on, enjoying a conversation with, essentially, myself.
Setting up your voicemail is easy! If you buy voicemail as a feature to your phone package and you have access to this simply follow the below steps. Dial *318 from your home phone to access your voicemail. You will be prompted to enter a four-digit PIN by entering it on the keypad and then pressing #. You will also be asked to confirm it by re-entering and pressing # again. The system default PIN is 0000. You will be prompted to record your name. Just say your name and press #. To re-record your name, press 1. To keep the recording, press#. Once you have recorded your name, you will be prompted to select a greeting. You can record your own greeting by pressing 1, and then # when you are finished. Or, you can use one of the standard greetings by pressing 2, 3 or 4 (just follow the instructions).
