Find your greeting file or a song you want to upload as your voice mail greeting. This could be a file on the computer, an excerpt of a song or a prerecorded voice mail message found on the Internet. YouMail has many prerecorded voice mail messages (see Reference section). I’ll assume you’re already familiar with recording a new voicemail greeting (select the three vertical dots [ellipsis] on the left in the new Google Voice user interface and select ⚙ Settings then. After practicing so many times to get your business voicemail messages done accurately, perhaps now you have more confidence to record them. Once that confidence is there, go ahead and record your voicemail message. But before sending it to everyone on your contacts list, you also want to have a preview first. This means taking the time to listen to the recording to be sure it’s perfect.

Context does matter here. If the caller would reasonably expect you to answer the phone (such as if they were calling a store or other place of business), an apology for not being able to get to the phone makes the most sense.
With all of these things to think about for a short 20-second voicemail, you might be feeling a little bit overwhelmed. We promise it’s actually is much simpler than it sounds.
